Tottenham striker Defoe: Deadline day just mad

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe admits he was unsure of his future during Friday's deadline day.

Defoe was in limbo before signing a new contract six days ago, while team-mates Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson were both set for loan moves but ended up staying at the club.

He told The Sun: "It was a bit mad. You would walk into the changing room, see the lads and wouldn't know if you'd see them the next day. It was funny.

"I had my wisdom tooth out one day, came in and was told Tom had gone to Stoke. I said to the lads 'I miss one day and all the players are going!'

"There was a lot of speculation about me as well. Every day fans would come up to me and ask if I was staying. I'd love to have turned round and say I was staying but I was not too sure."
