Tottenham's ex-players threw Peter Crouch under the bus after his red card at Real Madrid.
New dad Crouch was booked for a lunge on Sergio Ramos and then picked up a second yellow for a 15th-minute foul on Marcelo.
Ex-England and Spurs ace Jamie Redknapp said: "Peter Crouch is an intelligent boy but I cannot stick up for him. The second tackle was ridiculous.
"After he was booked for the first challenge, he needs to stay on his feet."
TV pundit Redknapp - son of Spurs boss Harry - added: "Crouch has played hundreds of games. Champions League football, international football - but what he did was beyond stupid.
"He lost his head. He has cost his team-mates because it's hard when you only play with 10 men."
