Tottenham to steal march on Man Utd with opening Zaha bid

Tottenham are launching an £8 million bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

The People says Spurs supremo Daniel Levy has been on Zaha's trail for months and the shrewd transfer operator will lodge an official offer shortly.

The package would see a guaranteed sum up front of around £6m, plus extras and bonuses, but it falls well short of what Palace dream they will get for the new England cap.

Manchester United are waiting in the wings to see how the first bid for Zaha plays out and will step in if it looks like Spurs are set to land the 20-year-old wonder-kid.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been working overtime on Zaha since being alerted to his brilliance and would be prepared to sign him and let him stay at Palace for the rest of the season.

Zaha has told pals that he fancies the Old Trafford switch if the deal is right.
