Tottenham starlet Onomah learns plenty from FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Josh Onomah believes that the 1-0 FA Cup 5th Round defeat against Crystal Palace was an important learning curve for him.

Onomah was handed his third senior start for Spurs in their defeat to Palace at White Hart Lane over the weekend and the match ultimately ended in disappointment for the youngster because of the result.

Onomah missed a couple of good opportunities to score during the clash but rather than being down on himself, the 18-year-old has revealed that the experience was an important learning curve for him.

The teenager told the club's official website: "It's mixed emotions – I did a few things right and a few things wrong but it's all a learning curve for me at this age.

"In the first few minutes there was a header that came to me, but looking back on it I think I could have headed it down or maybe waited for it to drop and volleyed it.

"It came to me quickly at that moment and it was a poor miss from me but I've got to learn from that and make sure I take the chance better next time.

"There was also a chance when Nacer (Chadli) knocked it down to me in the second half and they got a block on it so that was unfortunate too, but I've just got to carry on shooting at goal and hopefully one of them will go in.

"For me, I've just got to keep learning from the experienced players in our side. Obviously the FA Cup is a knockout tournament so we've got to learn from this result and see where we went wrong.

"We've got a good chance in the Premier League and a good chance in the Europa League so we need to keep our minds focused on that now, move on and carry on working hard."
