Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is hopeful that Vincent Kompany will be fit in time to feature for Belgium this week.
Kompany has missed the last five matches for City due to a calf injury and the defender is unlikely to take his place against Andorra in Euro2016 qualifying on Saturday.
The 29-year-old remains a doubt for Belgium's home meeting with Israel onTuesday and teammate Vertonghen is encouraged by what he has seen of Kompany during training and has expressed his hope that the City skipper will be fit in time to feature.
The Spurs star said: "Vincent is here to train. He trains outside as well and I spoke to him and he feels good.
"I don't know who will make the decision, maybe himself or the manager.
"I hope he will play because he is a very important player for us."
