Tottenham signing Parker tribute to West Ham

Former West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker is delighted with his move to Tottenham.

The 30-year-old felt the best option for his career was returning to the top flight following West Ham's relegation at the end of last season.

"I'm obviously delighted to be back in the Premier League," Parker told Sky Sports News. "I've had four fantastic years at West Ham.

"I met many good people, many friends and the fans were fantastic to me there but I just felt it was time to move on. It was time for me to try and stay in the Premier League.

"I felt at this stage in my career I needed to be playing Premier League football."

Parker has not ruled out returning to East London later in his career, adding: "I want to thank everyone at West Ham, especially the fans, because they've been brilliant with me over the last four years.

"Hopefully I'll go back there one day and get a good reception."
