Christian Eriksen has rejected Tottenham's latest offer of a new contract but remains keen to agree fresh terms, reports the London Evening Standard.
The Dane's deal has two more years to run and he turned down the most recent offer, though talks between the parties are expected to continue.
It is thought Eriksen was looking to be moved into the same bracket as Tottenham's top earners given his fine performances with the club. He has scored 30 goals in three seasons and provided a regular flow of assists.
Eriksen, who joined from Ajax for about £11million in the summer of 2013, earns about £30,000 weekly and is targeting a significant rise.
There remains, however, optimism on both sides that the deal will eventually be done.
