Tottenham sensation Kane will gain plenty from England double-header - Hodgson

England boss Roy Hodgson suggests Harry Kane's first experience with the senior national team will be advantageous to his development.

The Tottenham striker, 21, made his international debut with a goal within two minutes of gracing the pitch in Friday night's 4-0 Euro2016 qualifying win over Lithuania.

Kane backed that up with an assured 90-minute performance in Tuesday night's 1-1 friendly draw with Italy and Hodgson is expecting him to continue getting better with every international he plays.

"I thought Harry Kane did very well," Hodgson said.

"It wasn't an easy game, playing against three very experienced, tough defenders (in Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Ranocchia).

"He got helped a bit more when Wayne (Rooney) went up front, but I'm more than satisfied personally with his performance.

"It's been a good 10 days for him. He's scored on debut and played 90 minutes of a tough game. He'll gain a lot of benefit from that."
