Tottenham aim to take Alexander Buttner on a loan deal from Manchester United.

The Daily Star says Buttner's agent believes his client is on the brink of a temporary loan move to boost the Dutchman's chances of playing for his nation in the World Cup next summer.

Reports in the Netherlands suggest Spurs are keen bring the 24-year-old to White Hart Lane when the transfer window reopens next month with newly appointed Tim Sherwood lacking cover at left-back.

Despite appearing higher than Fabio da Silva in the pecking order, a possible exit from Old Trafford was on the cards earlier this month when Serie A pair Roma and Genoa revealed their interest.
