Tottenham fear losing Rafael van der Vaart this summer.
The Telegraph says Tottenham's move for Hoffenheim attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson has been made with the view to him succeeding Van der Vaart.
Spurs do not want to lose the Dutch international but there have been suggestions that he might seek a return to Germany.
