Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has said that Manchester United duo Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic helped him make the decision to sign Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Manchester City striker has joined Spurs on a season-long loan and Redknapp admits it was the United defensive pair who told him at Old Trafford on Monday that he should go for the ex-Arsenal man.

"I spoke to Rio (Ferdinand) and Vidic earlier this week and they both said that the toughest player they had played against was Adebayor and that was enough for me," he said last night.
