Tottenham's Lloris calm about France captaincy

Hugo Lloris insists he has not spoken about the France captaincy with anybody else.

Reports in France suggest that Lille midfielder Rio Mavuba is set to take over despite playing less than ten times for Les Bleus but Lloris is remaining calm regarding the rumours.

"The choice of captain belongs to the coach (Didier Deschamps)," he told RMC Sport. "We do not discuss it. The team is focused on the goal of reaching the World Cup.

"There is a very good atmosphere [within the squad] and everyone is pulling in the same direction.

"All the players are trying to prove they deserve a place in this team. Rio [Mavuba] is just one of them. He has a lot of experience, he's hungry and he wants to prove that he can play some great games in the jersey of the France team."
