Tottenham's Lennon ponders World Cup

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon has let his thoughts drift to next year's World Cup after a stellar start to the season.

With the Spurs flying high and Lennon producing blinding performances, there is no wonder that he has been called up to Fabio Capello's squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Croatia at Wembley.

Lennon has already experienced World Cup action, making three substitute appearances in Germany 2006 as a teenager but international action quickly dried up for him following those highs.

Now, the 22-year old is determined to continue his current form and become an integral part of the national team.

"The last World Cup was definitely the highlight of my career," he said.

"I've never experienced anything like it. I have great memories of it and I'm definitely hoping to go to the next one.

"My aim has always been to cement a place on the right hand side for England, but there are so many quality players out there it will be difficult. But if I keep playing well then I've got a chance.

"It's not just because it's World Cup year, I've always wanted to be in the England side because I've been in it before and been in it quite a bit from 2006."
