Tottenham's Keane wanted by Villa
Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is a wanted man with Aston Villa hoping to bring him in when the January transfer window opens. The Republic of Ireland captain cannot get on the pitch for Spurs with Harry Redknapp preferring the likes of Rafael van der Vaart, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and even Roman Pavlyuchenko and could seek a White Hart Lane exit.
Villa boss Gerard Houllier reportedly wants to bring a new attacking line to Villa Park but wants some experience to go with the youthful exuberance of players like Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Marc Albrighton.
Keane has been heavily linked with MLS expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps, mainly due to the fact that former Spurs director Paul Barber is the CEO there, but a move to the North American top flight is unlikely.
