Sources are reporting that Tottenham are close to offloading Robbie Keane after accepting a £6m bid from Birmingham. The Blues will reportedly pay £4m up front, rising by an additional £2m according to various clauses in the deal.
At this stage Spurs have accepted the offer and Birmingham have been given permission to hold talks with the Republic of Ireland international but no agreement has been formally reached as yet.
A sticking point, which has proved a deal breaker for some clubs, is the level of Keane's wages but Blues boss Alex McLeish is desperate to bring in some firepower to his shot shy troops as they battle against the drop.
If Keane does move to St Andrew's he will join up with winger David Bentley, who has moved from Spurs on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
In Keane's case though, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants an outright sale, not a loan arrangement.
