Tottenham's dos Santos does damage as Mexico roll New Zealand

Tottenham attacker Giovani dos Santos scored twice on Wednesday night as Mexico defeated New Zealand 3-0 in an international friendly in Denver, Colorado.

The 22-year old, who spent the second half of the recently completed season on loan in Spain with Racing Santander, scored two goals in the first half as El Tri easily got over the All Whites in their final tune up before the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

dos Santos was on hand to slot home in the 23rd minute when Kiwi keeper Glen Moss parried Carlos Salcido's cross into his path before producing a brilliant turn in the area before rounding Moss and knocking in from the goal line.

Aldo de Nigris added a third just before half-time as new Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre maintained his unbeaten record since taking over in October last year.

Mexico will meet El Salvador in their opening Gold Cup group match in Arlington on Sunday as New Zealand head back Down Under to take on Trans-Tasman rivals Australia in Adelaide.
