Clint Dempsey scored a quick-fire double as the USA scored a surprise 4-3 friendly win over Germany in Washington on Sunday.
The Tottenham star scored in the 60th and 64th minutes as Juergen Klinsmann's US side held on after lading 4-1 with just over ten minutes remaining.
Jozy Altidore opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he made the most of Germany defender Per Mertesacker's slip to volley home Graham Zusi's cross, four minutes before Benedikt Howedes' backpass somehow evaded goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Heiko Westermann got one back for Die Mannschaft six minutes into the second half when he headed home from a corner prior to Dempsey restoring the lead to two goals, and then three, courtesy of a volley and a 20-yard curler.
Joachim Low's side were in desperate need of at least a consolation goal or two and luckily that came late on through Max Kruse and Julian Draxler to spare the blushes of a heavy defeat.
