Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is set to miss six to eight weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage. The 27-year old was stretchered off during England's 3-1 win over Switzerland on Tuesday night and is expected to be out for around two months it has been reported.
The injury is likely to force Defoe out of the first half of Tottenham's Champions League campaign in what is a major blow for the club, especially as he is in top form coming off a hat-trick against Bulgaria on Friday.
Defoe's injury is the second picked up by a Spurs player this week after Michael Dawson went down in the Bulgaria game and is now likely to miss two months with a knee injury.
