Tottenham's Defoe insists Man City miss won't haunt him

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe says he will not let his non-goal in yesterday's 3-2 loss to Manchester City affect him.

The England international was unable to get his foot to a through ball at the back post from Gareth Bale late in the Etihad Stadium meeting when the score was 2-2 before City scored a late penalty through Mario Balotelli to take the victory.

But Defoe said it was simply a case of him being too short to reach the pass and insists that the miss it will not haunt him.

"It is not going to play on my mind. If I had longer legs, I'd have scored! I just couldn't reach," he said.

"Those ones can be difficult sometimes because when Gareth made the cross he had to play it in front of me rather than straight and I just couldn't reach it."
