Tottenham's Defoe buoyed by squad depth

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is excited about the depth of this season's playing group.

Spurs sit third on the Premier League table after coming from behind to defeat West Bromwich Albion 3-1 at The Hawthorns on Saturday without the likes of Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart.

Defoe, who netted a great individual goal either side of loan signing Emmanuel Adebayor's brace, was most pleased with the way those waiting in the wings went about their business and says anything is possible with this season's squad.

"Luka was ill before the game, Rafa was injured and there are other players in the squad not involved who can be unbelievable for this team," he told Spurs' official matchday programme.

"Sandro hasn't started for a while but came back into the team and did well. With the new signings as well, Ade (Adebayor), Scott (Parker), the squad is so strong.

"The sky's the limit, really. You never know what we could achieve. If the other teams slip-up, you never know."
