Tottenham's AVB: I'm not surprised Chelsea sacked Di Matteo

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas says he is not surprised that Chelsea have already sacked his successor Roberto Di Matteo.

The Italian was sensationally axed by Blues boss Roman Abramovich today, just months after guiding the club to the FA Cup/Champions League double.

Villas-Boas met the same fate at Stamford Bridge in March and although he feels Di Matteo was harshly done by, he believes that displacing a manager is part and parcel of being involved with the West London club.

"At Chelsea, I think another sacking is just like any other day at the office. That's my interpretation," he said.

"Roberto has achieved so much in such a little amount of time. His CV is maybe one of the best in the world now - he has won the Champions League and the FA Cup too.

"It was difficult for Robbie and I wish him well for the rest of his career.

"Regarding the club, it's their decision, it's what they think will take them forward but other than that I can't comment."
