Tottenham's Alli 'different, but better' than Liverpool star Coutinho – Murphy

Danny Murphy has explained how Tottenham Hotspur attacker Dele Alli is better than Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

Alli and Coutinho were arguably two of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League last season and duo are most certainly crucial to their respective teams.

In regards to who is the better player among the two will surely cause a lot of debate but former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has stuck his neck out by claiming that Alli is better than Coutinho due to the fact that the Englishman scores more goals.

Murphy said: "Liverpool have been clever in getting Salah. Maybe they signed him because they thought if Coutinho goes they've got a ready-made replacement.

"I think with Salah and Mane in the wide positions they would be more dynamic. They'd lose a bit of creativity that Coutinho brings, but there are players out there you could get for less money who might give you just as much output.

"Coutinho scored 14 goals last season and that was his best return. If Liverpool rate him at around £100m, what's Dele Alli worth? He's better than Coutinho. Different but better."
