Tottenham are today in talks with AS Roma chiefs over midfield pair Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic.Roma sports director Walter Sabatini and general manager Mauro Baldissoni are in London today for transfer talks with Spurs.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas sees Lamela as a like-for-like replacement for Real Madrid target Gareth Bale, while playmaker Pjanic can fill the void left by Luka Modric's sale 12 months ago.

Roma will be seeking in the region of £40 million for the duo and if anything can be agreed it will be a sure sign that Bale will be on his way to Spain this month.
