Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is chasing Everton fullback Leighton Baines.

The People says the England left-back has two years left on his Everton deal and has been the subject of interest from Manchester United for the past two seasons.

But Spurs boss Villas-Boas has made a new left-back one of his chief priorities and a bid for the 28-year-old has been discussed. United have always baulked at Everton's £15million asking price, but the player could be available for nearer £12m as his contract begins to run down.
