Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon was a big money target for the UAE's Al Ahli last week.
The People says Lennon was targeted by UAE outfit Al Ahli as they attempted to snap him up for £5.5million.
Their transfer window did not close until Thursday and officials hoped they could tempt him away from White Hart Lane as he does not appear to be a major part of Mauricio Pochettino's plans.
And it is understood that as part of Al Ahli's bid they were offering Lennon a salary of almost £3m-a-year as well as a luxury lifestyle in Dubai.
But Spurs did not entertain the surprise interest in their winger. Lennon has been with the club since 2005, when he joined from Leeds for £1million.
