Tottenham are preparing to bid for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill.
The Daily Mail says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has targeted a centre-back and striker for the January window but needs to sell to fund his rebuilding.
Redknapp still believes that 25-year-old Cahill represents the best value for a defender despite his sending off for Bolton at White Hart lane on Saturday.
Chelsea are the favourites to sign Cahill although a fee has yet to be agreed. Cahill is out of contract in the summer and Chelsea hope £7million will prove enough.
However, Chelsea's dip in form and Tottenham's resurgence has given Redknapp hope of pulling off a coup he narrowly missed out on in August.
