Tottenham quick to move for Liverpool striker Keane

Tottenham have already made a cheeky move for Liverpool striker Robbie Keane.

The Daily Star says Spurs have made a bold bid to take Keane back to White Hart Lane.

The Irish striker has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool this season and was not in the squad for the FA Cup clash against Everton on Sunday.

That led Spurs to make an inquiry yesterday about the 28-year-old, who did not even turn up at Anfield to watch the 1-1 draw.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted: "I wouldn't sit here and say I wouldn't like to have Robbie at my football club. I'd be a liar.

"But he belongs to Liverpool, so it's probably not an option.

"As a player and a person I have a lot of time for Robbie Keane. I think he's fantastic."

But it is understood Keane is not keen on going back to Tottenham, who are still owed money by Liverpool following the £20m sale in the summer.

If boss Rafa Benitez were to let him go so soon after arriving it would be an admission of making a big mistake.

But Redknapp still thought it was worth making a final effort to persuade the Reds to do business as he frantically tries to sign players to drag the club out of relegation trouble
