Tottenham remain determined to land Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

The People says Spurs made two bids before the start of this season to try to get a deal tied up for less than £15million - but they were rejected and since then the player has signed a new contract.

As a result Luis Anapa, vice-president of Brazilian team Internacional is insisting the forward will not be allowed to leave for less than his staggering £44m release clause.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will not pay that, but is putting together an incentive-based plan to get him for a lower initial fee - and beat off interest from other clubs, including Barcelona.
