Tottenham pushed hard to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester City last week.

The Mirror says Kyle Walker's record-breaking move to Manchester City was held up — as Tottenham tried to get teen prodigy Sancho thrown into the deal.

The transfer finally received the green light on Friday afternoon after weeks of negotiations.

As Spurs stood firm over the £45million asking price for England international Walker, they decided to chance their arm by enquiring about 17-year-old winger Sancho.

The England starlet boosted his reputation with the Golden Player award at the European Under-17 Championship in Croatia. However, City are acutely aware that they have a poor record of bringing academy players through to the first-team.
