Tottenham preparing major offer for West Ham keeper Green

Tottenham are preparing a £7.5 million bid for West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green.

The Sunday Mirror says the 30-year-old looks a certainty for the England World Cup squad in South Africa — and cash-strapped West Ham appear likely to listen to offers.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been delighted with the progress made by his £12m Brazilian Heurelho Gomes under the guidance of goalkeeping coach Tony Parks.

But he made an unsuccessful bid for Manchester United’s Ben Foster in the January transfer window.

It appears he is looking for a long-term replacement for Gomes with Green seemingly his preferred target.

I don't think that there is anything in this tale about Robert Green moving to Tottenham: it'd be very unlikely. David James, an ageing but still fit player, would be a more likely No.2 to Gomes in the future if Carlo Cudicini does not recover from his injuries.

Why would any top rate 1st choice keeper want to go to a club to be their bench warmer?.

Gomes is ok. Punches a little too often but makes up for that with some marvelous stops.
Yes, Spurs do need a new No2 . My guess is that we will see David James come to WHL in the summer.
ps. Why did we employ Jimmy Walker?. Very strange - never seen him play.

We have got one of the best keepers in the league but still we are linked with others. How must Gomes feel when every other day Harry is looking at another keeper. Try showing more support to who is most definately the most improved keeper over the past couple of seasons.
