Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.

Express & Star says Berahino has apparently been made Tottenham Hotspur's top target when the transfer window reopens for business in the New Year.

Spurs want a striker but have cooled their interest in Jay Rodriguez, who has yet to return from a serious knee injury at boss Mauricio Pochettino's former club Southampton.

That has seen £25million-rated Baggies forward Berahino surge to the top of their wanted list, with the 21-year-old unsettled at the Hawthorns after contract talks stalled.
