Tottenham poised to sign Everton's Pienaar

Steven Pienaar will sign a four year deal with Tottenham after completing a routine medical at the club's training ground. The 28-year-old midfielder at one stage looked set for Chelsea before failing to agree terms with the current champions.

Spurs finally came to an agreement with Everton over price, with reports claiming a transfer fee of between £2.m and £3m was finally thrashed out.

Confirming his destination on his Twitter account, Pienaar said: "To end speculation I am going to Spurs. I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart."

The Toffees decided to sell the influential playmaker, rather than lose him on a free transfer in the summer.

The South African joined Everton on loan from Borussia Dortmund in 2007 and the move was made permanent the following year for £2million.

He became one of the club's most influential figures and was named Player of the Year last season.
