Tottenham plan to make formal complaint against Stoke's Adam

Tottenham are preparing to make a formal complaint to the FA against Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam.

Stoke midfielder Adam was late into a tackle with Paulinho on Sunday, making it the fourth time the Scot has left his mark on a Spurs player since he was promoted to the Barclays Premier League with Blackpool in 2010.

Paulinho suffered damage to ankle ligaments in Spurs' 3-0 home win. Adam has previously been involved in incidents involving Gareth Bale twice and Scott Parker.

The Daily Mail says Spurs are likely to take the unusual step of writing to the FA about Adam.
