Luka Modric has opened new contract talks with Tottenham.
The London Evening Standard says Tottenham have opened talks with Modric and are optimistic he will agree terms on a new deal before January.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined to secure Modric's long-term future at the club as soon as possible and has already opened talks with the midfielder's representatives.
It is understood that Levy is still prepared to offer him a £40,000-a-week pay rise and the midfielder is believed to be ready to agree terms.
