Tottenham are ready to offer Jermain Defoe a new lease of life - despite being told last week by manager Juande Ramos he can leave, reports the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard is a strict disciplinarian and suggested Defoe should leave if he wants to continue messing around.

Defoe has held off signing a new deal after making just two League starts this season but Ramos is now putting efforts into keeping him.
