Tottenham Hotspur are set to throw Sebastian Bassong into the deal that hopefully lures Gary Cahill from Bolton.
With Arsenal's interest in the England centre-half set to cool with the impending arrival of Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen, Spurs see it as a good opportunity to up the ante in their pursuit.
Bolton want around £15million for Cahill but Tottenham want to pay closer to the £8m mark and also throw in Bassong, who is valued at £6m, and is a ready-made replacement.
Trotters boss Own Coyle has made it clear that the club will not let Cahill to go cheaply which indicates that an offer like this is expected to rejected.
