Tottenham News: Lloris out of Southampton clash; Alderweireld close to recall

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to field Michel Vorm on Sunday against Southampton.

Pochettino is likely to be without Hugo Lloris for Sunday's trip to Southampton with the French goalkeeper suffering from illness.

Lloris is set to be replaced by Vorm but there is good news for Spurs in that Toby Alderweireld is to return to full first-team training.

Pochettino is looking to stay in the race for the Premier League's top four and said: "We need to wait and assess him (Lloris).

"I think it is flu or a virus. Everyone with this weather will struggle a bit."

Meanwhile, Toby Alderweireld is on the brink of a playing return.

The 28-year-old defender has been out with a hamstring injury since November.

Pochettino added: "I'm very pleased. You can see his preparation is to be available again like Harry Winks and Danny Rose.

"We are going to have a very busy period and we need all the squad available to play.

"If all is well he will do the warm-up (on Saturday) with the team and will be integrated gradually with the group. He will be ready as soon as possible."
