From the Dutch second division to taking on Juventus, Vincent Janssen is only now getting used to his rapid rise to the top.
The 22-year-old striker finds himself with Tottenham Hotspur via AZ Alkmaar after playing in the Eerstedivisie with Almere City as recently as last year.
Janssen started up front for Spurs in their International Champions Cup clash wth Italian giants Juventus on Tuesday night and admits his progress of becoming a Premier League footballer has been swift but something he is prepared for as he continues to take the next step.
"I think it's a big difference of course because the level is much higher," he told reporters in Melbourne.
"You do everything step by step and for me it has gone very fast from the second division of Holland and in 14 months you play against Juventus, it's a big difference.
"It's nice to play these games and I'm getting used to it."
Regarding rumours of a potential summer move to a bigger Dutch club such as Ajax or PSV Eindhoven, Janssen dismissed it as mere paper talk while making it clear that Spurs were the only club for him.
"It was only speculation and Tottenham was one of the clubs who were interested and for me it was an easy choice," he added.
