Tottenham must go higher to convince Schalke to part with Leroy Sane.
Kicker says Spurs failed with a €12 million offer for Sane last week. The offer prompted Schalke to offer Sane a new deal, which he has duly signed.
Sane is now tied to Schalke until 2019.
However, Tottenham could still convince Schalke to cash in, with the Bundesliga club needing to raise funds to close a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.
Spurs are active in the German transfer market this summer and have already snapped up Kevin Wimmer from FC Koln.
