Tottenham must beat Barcelona, Real Madrid for Asenjo

Tottenham face stiff competition for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.

The Daily Mail says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly interested in the Atletico Madrid No 1, who has fallen behind Manchester United target David de Gea in the pecking order at the Vicente Calderon.

But La Liga's biggest sides Barcelona and Real Madrid are also monitoring a player who was tipped for big things when leaving Valladolid for Atletico in a £4.5m summer move.

However, the 20-year-old is understood to be reluctant to move to any club that see him as a reserve and Spurs (Heurelho Gomes), Real (Iker Casillas) and Barca (Victor Valdes) are all happy with their current keepers.
