Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar will undergo surgery to get rid of a groin problem.

Pienaar has been struggling for months and also has a thigh complaint.

But the South Africa captain, 29, has decided to put off surgery until after Sunday's clash with Egypt.

He said: "The injury has been giving me lots of problems over the last few months.

"I've decided to go for the operation after the international."
