Tottenham medical staff are being praised for their quick response after the collapse of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
The speedy response by medics at White Hart Lane gave Muamba the best possible chance of making a recovery, according to an expert yesterday.
Dr Graham Stuart, medical director of Sports Cardiology UK, told the Mirror: "The vital thing was how quickly he received treatment. Any delay can damage various organs. From what I saw, it was only a few minutes before he had help.
"Usually in these cases the reason for this happening is something to do with a heart muscle problem.
"All junior footballers from the age of 16-17 undergo checks in the UK. That would pick up any problem in the majority of cases but that is not always the case."
