Tottenham making the same old mistakes - Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp is of the belief that Tottenham have already harmed their top-four chances.

The former Liverpool midfielder is afraid Mauricio Pochettino's transfer policy has ruined their hopes of attracting star quality at White Hart Lane which could see Spurs miss their targets this season.

"Tottenham seem to be making the same mistakes year in, year out," Redknapp analysed for Sky Sports.

"They were only six points off a top-four finish last season but rather than pushing on this summer it feels like they're going backwards.

"First, there's the quality of the squad.

"Apart from Harry Kane, who gets you on the edge of your seat when you watch them?

"Not long ago, Spurs had so many different options to hurt the opposition. This season, we've seen that if you stop Kane from scoring you can stop Tottenham. Where are the match winners?

"This isn't a new problem. For a long time there has been a conveyor belt of top talent going out of White Hart Lane, without the same quality signed as replacements.

"Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale... the players Spurs have bought to take their places haven't been in the same league.

"It must be so frustrating for Tottenham fans. With the money the club have spent, they should be doing better."

Tottenham have kicked off the new Premier League season without a win having lost to Manchester United and playing out draws with Stoke City and Leicester City.
