Tottenham are lining up an £8 million bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba.
The Mirror says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been put on alert that owners Venky's may sell a star in the window.
Rovers owners want to balance the books and give boss Steve Kean some 'loose change' for new signings. Samba - a mega Blackburn earner at around £60,000 a week - could now be sold.
Redknapp has been a fan of the 6ft 4in Congolese defender for years, but never been able to sign him because of his price and the cost of his wages.
However, Spurs are seeking a Champions League spot - and possibly the title - while Rovers are more vulnerable than ever to a serious offer.
