Tottenham are aiming to trump Sunderland for on-loan Olympique Marseille striker Djibril Cisse.

Sunderland have already complained that the plunging pound could wreck their chances of meeting the asking price set for Cisse at the beginning of his loan.

France Football says Spurs have made contact with Marseille and indicated they're willing to pay £6 million for the Frenchman. Cisse has also attracted interest from Panathinaikos, but has made it clear to l'OM he wants to stay in England.
