Tottenham are preparing another bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.
The Daily Mail says Spurs are preparing a final £12m offer with an extra £2m based on appearances, but Middlesbrough are determined not to sell, with chairman Steve Gibson claiming on Tuesday night that Downing's head had been turned by the glamour of White Hart Lane.
Gibson said: "The January transfer window is a feeding time for the sharks, but we will fight to keep this squad together because we know we have a lot of quality here.
"I believe Stewart Downing and all our players should stay and fight to turn this club around. The players owe it to the club and to the fans - and they owe it to the manager.
"As far as Stewart is concerned, we understand the background to his transfer request and we believe his head has been turned."
