Tottenham have made an offer for Real Sociedad fullback Alberto de la Bella.

The Mirror says Andre Villas-Boas is understood to have identified the left-back slot as a weak area in the team, and turned to the dependable De La Bella. A bid of £3m was made but immediately rejected, and signs are Spurs will be back with another offer.

The 27-year-old is coming off the back of an outstanding season with La Liga's surprise package Real Sociedad, and his performances have been noted.
