Tottenham Hotspur have booked a spot in the Carling Cup final after defeating Burnley 6-4 on aggregate. The Spurs won the first leg 4-1 at White Hart Lane and looked like they would cruise into the final to meet Manchester United but Burnley stood in the way of Harry Redknapp's team.

Robbie Blake cut the overall deficit to two goals when he opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a brilliant free-kick.

After the break, it seemed as if Spurs had control and that it would take a colossal effort from the Clarets to mount a serious challenge.

All that changed however when Blake worked his way into the area and crossed to Chris McCann at the far post who made no mistake and when substitute Jay Rodriguez tied it all up two minutes from time, it seemed as if anything could happen.

But the class of the Premier League club shone when Roman Pavyluchenko smashed a left-footer into the back of the net in the second-half of extra-time followed up by a curling Jermain Defoe shot that sent the Spurs through to a date with the Red Devils at Wembley Stadium.
