Tottenham, Liverpool embroiled in youth row

Tottenham and Liverpool are embroiled in a youth row ahead of tomorrow night's block buster at Anfield.

The Mail on Sunday says the bust-up arose after Liverpool lodged a protest about Spurs fielding two ineligible players during the NextGen Under-19s quarter-final last week, which the Londoners won by the only goal.

Rather than contest the issue, Spurs withdrew, handing Liverpool a semi-final tie against Barcelona or Ajax. But there is anger at White Hart Lane at Liverpool’s behaviour.

Spurs unknowingly fielded two under-age players in the game in which Liverpool included players recruited for substantial transfer fees.
