Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle has urged Gareth Bale to stay at White Hart Lane.

Bale, 23, is rumoured to be a summer transfer target for La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But Hoddle told The Sun: "If I was personally advising him, I'd say don't move yet.

"When you go abroad, like when I moved to Monaco, you can't just pick up the reins and carry on. He won't be able to do that if he goes to Barcelona or Real Madrid - that would take some time.

"His family is the key to it because settling in off the pitch is just as important as on it.

"I think another year or couple of years and he'll be ready, but if that cheque's big enough I don't think Tottenham will be able to turn it down."
